Before you decide to undertake a chevron wall, let me just warn you, it’s not for the faint of heart. I spent the weekend painting the nursery for my little muffin of a nephew that is on his way any day now. It was a lot of work, but the results are definitely worth it!
Supplies
- Base color paint & Accent color paint (I used General Paint’s “Searant”)
- Mini paint roller
- Painters tape
- Pencil
- Level
- Exacto Knife
- Eraser
Step One: Draw a grid. Depending on how small or large you want the chevron pattern to be, you can change the size of the grid (I made the grid 10″ x 10″). Make tick marks every 10″ both horizontally across, and vertically down the wall. Use the level to connect the dots.
Step Two: Lay down the tape from one corner of a box, diagonally to the other corner. Continue across the entire wall. It should look something like this. Note, the green tape is covering the parts that will not be painted blue.
Step Three: Trim the excess tape with an exacto knife.
Step Four: Paint your accent color using the mini roller. You’ll likely need to do two or three coats.
Step Five: Remove the tape while the paint is still a bit tacky. This will give you a clean line. Once your paint is dry, use an eraser to get rid of any visible grid lines. Complete!
